RUral@URban at Art Internet biennale 2
2012-2014
VAS | Virtual Art Space
Curator: Ziona Shimshi

The installation the Art Internet biennale website

“To dwell is to garden”, Martin Heidegger

The installation hanging from the ceiling with its light weight appearance serves as a reminder of Earth's fragility and it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish our planet. The agricultural fabric continuity on the buildings suggests remediation by restoring the land fertility that has been taken.

EarthPulse at Horizons « Arts-Nature » in Sancy, France
15.6-15.9.2013
Director: Mr. Luc Stelly

The installation at Horizons « Arts-Nature » in Sancy Website

The installation concept is inspired by the unique volcanic landscape of the Massif Central. In my last visit to the area I was left with the impression of a strong presence of the earth energy brewing underneath the serene landscape. The installation translates this energy into a burst of red strips emerging out of an excavated fissure in the ground, using a seismogram to simulate volcanic eruption. The seismic power is represented by partially transparent red polycarbonate strips common in construction. The strips are in various sizes.
The red color simulates the lava, and acts as a warning sign to human depletion of our natural environment.

Sea seems as a mysterious world, rich with secrets, that its treasures are hidden in its darkness. At a time of a heavy storm it seems that sea removes partially its scarf and tells us a hint about its treasures, a vast variety of species of living creatures and water flora. The artificial "Waves" rising from the deep sea reveal its treasure and imply a suggesting of coexistence between man and nature.
The tidal Movement changes the way we read/ perceive the installation. This change takes part along the cyclical flow of the tide, reinforcing the dialogue between the rigid man made object and the vitality of the sea. This integration reflects the vividness and power of nature, and suggests the obvious advantages of living in harmony with our environment. .
Material: metal frame, steel interwoven wires, steel with laser cutting, algae "curtain",
Scale: length 40 m`, width 9 m`, maximum height of 7 m`

Earth Echoes, Ceramic Sculpture
Wilfrid Museum, HaZore'a
30.3-1.8.2012
curators: Shir Meller-Yamaguchi and Anat Turbowicz

The exhibition at Wilfrid Museum Website

About the exhibition in The Association of Museums and ICOM Israel website

Earth Echoes in Haaretz newspaper

Earth Echoes in Midnight East

The installation sketches a silhouette of a dense and high-rising city, growing from the levels of earth beneath it. The construction material was taken from the natural surroundings. The installation is a reflection of the enviornmental crisis, exacerbated by the wasteful and irresponsible use of natural resources. The installation highlights the depletion of nature due to acts of man and confronts us with the remaining absence. The empty city created in the installation clarifies our share in the envioronmental damage and serves as a reminder of our presence and our future here, both as a call and an opportunity to bring about change.

Cycles of construction and destruction / Text by the exhibition's curators
Tagit Klimor also relates to the exhaustion and urbanization process. She uses 'ready-made' to builds as installation of a shadow city. The ecological protest is expressed not only in the idea but also in the material used by the artist and thus creates a work that is total in its loyalty to the idea.

Competition for Sculpture in Jaffa Bay
2006

The story of Andromeda is above all the story of the complicated relationship between man and nature.
This mythological story expresses the anxiety of man facing the powers of nature and the unknown and unexpected side of nature.

The story of Andromeda alludes to the human desire to be an undisputed ruler and to overcome the power of nature, but after a momentary illusion of control, the illusion disappears and nature proclaims its full power.

The suggested work expresses the relationship between man and the forces of god’s creation. It involves a dialog between the energy inherent in the sea and man’s interference in these forces. It is expressing the constantly changing of nature and the joining of man to this infinite richness.

The mythological story of Andromeda is like a chain of waves in which the heroes are changing, a story about the power of the sea, and man’s fear of storms and whirlpools that charge their price, versus the attempt to deal with and overcome the mythic power.

The work uses the seawater as a basic element and by the technical skills of man it’s creating an event in between the two of them. The sculpture represents a dialog between the elements interwoven in mythology and portrays the fragile relationship between man and nature.

Meirov House, Holon.

Curator: Ayelet Biran
The environmental crisis, created by violating the ecological balance and overusing natural resources is becoming a well common topic in our world. Recognition of importance of immediacy action to prevent the deterioration of the crisis with intelligent and balanced use of natural resources is starting to sink into the public consciousness.
Today, the expeditious development Comes at the expense of open land and the building consumes resources, are both a main reason in the environmental crisis.
The main problem creating by the Irresponsible and wasteful use of natural resources is being worsened and the damage becomes irreversible.
The installation represents a high density city silhouette risesing from the sand. Depletion reflecting the absence caused by abuse of natural resources and reminds us our part but also recalls for an opportunity for a valuable change.

The cities in the world are undergoing a continuous progress of change and significant urban growth. More than half of the world’s population lives in cities. The urban tissue in the modernistic cities is mostly composed of simple and repetitive dwelling, and most of them are lacking inspiration. During history, as well as nowadays, the architectural richness is found in buildings that represent power and money, such as public or institutional buildings. In the past few decades, architecture has dealt with showcase buildings in an exaggerated manner, and the issue of dwelling was neglected.

The statue is monumentally representing the public housing, the real living space of the people. The vertical dimension of the statue, like a town square obelisk, is bringing it to the front. The house with no walls is externalizing daily life and shares the absent happening with the observer. The glimpse to the intimate life exposed in the town square shows the residence as a part of the urban show.

The statue is located in the centre of Hadar, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Haifa, and it stands in a wide square in front of the municipal engineering bureau. The statue corresponds with the modernistic architecture that is typical to Hadar, the white city of Haifa, and with the simple and abstract geometry which is characterizing it. The vertical statue is present in the square with the simple designed screen wall in the background and as a contrast and a completion to the horizontal pedestrian bridge.

The video work investigates the transfer from direct communication to indirect communication in a world in which the social networks create a different kind of discussion. In the exhibition, abstract and condensed language was in use to describe the connection between the city and the virtual space. The transfer from the real to the virtual exists in the video work: from a picture of a hand holding a pen and writing to the action of crumpling the paper and throwing it into the digital space, a space with its own rules and with different life. In a given time, a spatial net of bonds is woven between abstract points in the space and these points transmit textual messages and are represented by icons rich in images. The varied representation in the nets reflects many sides of the represented personality. The representations of those people in the social networks create a ‘puzzle’ that makes one wonder about the different ways in which people choose to represent their personality. The figures move from the banality of everyday life, through breaking conventions and into extreme rampaging. The video work sharpens the new representation space of the people, the freedom to wear new attire, visual as well as textual, and to release to space new aspects of their personality. The work poses questions regarding the connections in the networks between the individual and the collective, and about the bizarre that becomes standard due to its frequent appearance.

The living space is defined as one of man's most intimate skins and as such is a mirror of our lifestyle and reflects the way we comprehend the world. The culture of the dwelling in its broadest meaning, the way we build our living environment, goes beyond style. In an era of change, culture shifts between tradition and innovation, homogeneous and diverse, the individual and unique and the generic. We find ourselves in the process of defining our place amidst the notion of a local identity and belonging and redefinitions of global identities that have been created by the new "Glocal" culture. This interface, in combination with the values of social and environmental existence and through future technological innovations, will create a different culture of dwelling that will enable the renewed integration of man, ethics and environment.

Between Private Space and Public Realm
2006
Competition winner, Tel Aviv Port & ZeZeZe Gallery, 2005

Our relationship to the world is defined when two identities meet: the personal identity and the collective identity. In today's society those identities sometimes appear to exist on separate parallel lines. Every once in a while external forces intervene, causing one of these identity lines to change direction. This encounter causes a collision, resulting in anger and violence, but often also reveals a moment of tenderness and care, which gives us insight regarding the fragility of our world and recognition that environmental alienation, disregard for each other and our ignorance of tomorrow stand on our doorstep, piling up and possibly destroying the structure we established which stands in such a delicate balance.
The display expresses the delicate stitching connecting the private and the public by presenting the polarization between the energy we invest in shaping and nurturing the private space, and our relationship to the public sphere, which ranges from simple lack of care to a pattern of neglect and irreversible damage to our living environment.

Interior Space
A private area, bright, clean, intimate, designed, meticulous, a decorative display, flaunting wealth, alienated, ignored.
The space will be formed using a white cast/cement board, white curtain. Minimal information mentions the rationality of the "white city".

Exterior space
Public area, whatever you need, everything that disrupts the cleanliness of the private space, everything that is unnecessary, without thought, lack of care, temporary, "no man's land."
The space will be formed using a picture of a beach on the drywall, documenting its encounter with the garbage left by waves of people. The floor is an extension of the picture with scattered sea pebbles and debris.
The choice of the meeting between the sea and garbage is a statement about our care for our immediate environment and the global environment.

The Balcony
The balcony is the spatial medium anchored in Israeli culture which creates interaction between the public and private spaces. The balcony is a time-out for observation and insight. The balcony is a symbol for the meeting of the two worlds and enables bridging between them.
