Agro-Living was developed with regard to the imminent effects of massive urbanization - displaced communities, dissipated existing traditions and heritage and a strain on energy resources and infrastructure. Agro-Living reacts to these changes by forming a new order in the city. Agro-Living creates self-sustaining, city-dwelling families, providing not just a new standard of living, but also a model for new urbanity, contributing to the preservation of traditions and community values and diminishing the trials of rural migration.

The Agro-Living concept derives simultaneously from the measured environmental issues, and the unmeasured represents the human basic need for belonging, involvement and reinforcing traditional values of bonding of man and earth. Agro-Living, as a holistic approach to sustainability, emphasizes the individual and the community as the central factor by introducing a new urban concept to the critical social problems of urban migration - a loss of existing traditions and considerable unemployment. The integration of productive agricultural land use within residential development facilitates the transformation of traditional rural employment and income to the new city dwellers.
