The sculpture is a tribute to our friend, the artist Tully Bowman, who has passed away. Tully had many positive qualities, but what I liked most about him was that he was a people's person, a joyful man combining virtue and vision. Tully, always had a mischievous smile on his face, full of energy and enthusiasm attributed to a curious man who wanted to explore, develop and discover new horizons.

The mix between him being self-taught and a nonconformist enabled Tuly to be free from conventions; creating a fascinating combination between a dreamer who would try to fix the world and someone who is passionate to create, to search and to dare. I have the mental image, a memory, of Tully walking and playing in the Kingdom of Basalt sculptures at the garden of his studio, and an image of his illuminated face as he discovered the computer and the digital space as a new realm for exploration and creation.

This sculpture seeks to express these aspects of his personality by referring to the wide-spread variety of Tulys' many artworks as well as his simultaneous journey as a creator and as a social and a cultural leader. The work is compiled with many artistic journeys, including both his quest to attempt to break out of the 'frame' and intertwined with his diverse personality.
